Let’s talk about Bloggers…
I’ve seen a number of “Bloggers to Watch” posts in the last few weeks and with the additional prodding of a Problogger article I read today, I’ve decided to include my own list of Simplicity/Minimalist bloggers that I’ve started following recently and that are poised to make big noise in the blogosphere this year.
Everett @ Far Beyond the Stars
Everett is a former dance student/current yoga enthusiast who lives the 100 Item Challenge every day. His blogs on the benefits of minimalist living as a tool to craft the life that you want to live. He made the leap out of the work-a-day world and is working on using his blog as his primary source of income.
My Favs:

What is Your Minimalist Destination?
Becoming Minimalist
This blog is about a family of four who decided to turn Minimalist after the husband had a chance encounter with a neighbor during Memorial Day weekend in 2008. You can read about that encounter in the first article listed below, The Journey Begins.
I really like the regular feature they have where readers share their own Minimalist journey. Were I clever I would have thought of it first, but I’m not…so I didn’t…so read it there.
My Favs:
Greg @ Live it With Less
Greg is my mirror twin in many ways, except he lives halfway around the world. A family man with a high desire to make personal changes and embrace the Simple, Minimalist life. He has plans to put out an eBook this year and create value with informative articles, while giving a video and pictorial account of the systematic decluttering of his home. I like Greg’s blog because he is down to earth, an everyday guy making realistic changes for he and his family.
My Favs:
Miss Minimalist
What’s fascinating about Miss Minimalist is that she and her significant other up and sold just about everything and move from the States to London. Her five part series (link below) really is fascinating, with pictures and extensive detail on how she got rid of her stuff and how she packs for traveling.
My Favs

Leo @ Mnmlist.com
Every blogger knows who Leo Babauta is of Zen Habits fame. An offshoot of Zen Habits is his site, Mnmlist. Leo’s got a 100 Thing Challenge page, and several thought provoking articles. I’ve not seen him update the site in a few weeks but that’s presumably because he’s busy with some other projects that he’s blogged about elsewhere.
My Favs
Chris @ More Minimal
Chris Baskind hsa been blogging on Minimalism since 2006. His site is about to go through some changes and it is presumed that it will be a new URL. Unfortunately, I haven’t any more information at this time so it would be best to pick up his RRS feed now and then wait for the redirect when that occurs.
Chris’ motto is Leaner, Greener, Happier and he’s become quite the expert on Car-Free living.
My Favs
Welcome to the Minimalist Century
5 Decluttering Projects You Can Finish in Under 5 Hours
Abhishek @ MNMLSTLife
This is a very bare bones website, like a minimalist site probably should be. What is unique about Abhishek’s site is his articles on the concept of 5s.
My Favs:
Tyler @ Simple Minimalism
Tyler is fresh out of college and provides a minimalist perspective from his own experiences. He gives a minimalist approach from Generation Y that a Generation X’er like me can appreciate.
My Favs:
David @ Simple. Organized. Life.
David is like many of us in that he spent the first part of his adulthood chasing the almighty dollar but has since sought value in simplicity. He moved from the smog-filled city of Los Angeles to the mountain of Northern New Mexico, and now has recently settled in at Colorado.
My favorite posts are from his descriptions of life in the New Mexico. It sounds peaceful, serene, and beautiful.
My Favs:
How I Google to Organize My Entire Online Digital Life
10 Tips to Reduce Your Clutter and Get Organized
Jules @ Stone Soup
This site is about Minimalist Home Cooking, and so is a bit of a departure from most of the blogs on this list…which is what makes it totally awesome.
My Favs:
Tammy @ Rowdy Kittens
This is a newer find for me…because I’m usually late to the party. Tammy’s primary goal is to “create social change through simple living.”
You can find posts on downsizing and tiny homes at this site and great articles on living simpler, calmer lives.
My Favs:
Dee Williams: How to Build a Tiny House
Radical Gardening for Small Spaces
The Everyday Minimalist
Ok, I don’t really know who is behind this blog as the author seems to prefer to maintain a level of anonymity. My observations are that she is a twenty-something consultant in the corporate world.
I was intrigued by her story of living out of a suitcase as a consultant and also, her practice of minimalism that allows her to concentrate her efforts on things she enjoys, like fashion and interior design.
My Favs:
The Top Five Benefits of Being a Minimalist
Dave @ The Minimalist Path
Dave keeps the articles to nice lean bit sizes, that are packed with lots of information, like a Minimalist should, and kinda the opposite of my rambling nonsense.
If you take this site with his other site Life Excursion, you have the two pieces that I think are the most important to living a great life. Here, he writes about minimalizing down to the important, and then Life Excursion is about living life to the fullest and designing the life you want.

Bonus – Less Space. Less Things. More Life
Sam @ The Simpler Life
I like Sam’s articles because he has a healthy respect for the fact that minimalism and simple living mean many things to many people. It’s non-judgement and the fact is that your path is yours and yours only.
Sam puts his own life on his blog for scrutiny, both by himself and by his readers and for that, he has my respect.
My Favs
Use the Fear of Hypocrisy as a Motivator
Attention to Detail vs. The Curse of Perfectionism
Quality over Quantity is the Core of Simplicity
Caitlin @ Clutter Cubed
This is another new find for me, thanks to Caitlin’s guest post on Get Rich Slowly earlier this week. As such, I don’t know much about her except that I like what I read…and the fact that she has purple hair. What’s not to love?
My Favs:
Bonus: Evil Donkey
Ok, I’ve had an on again, off again love affair with Evil Donkey. Sometimes his writing pisses me off, but the fact is, it’s great and it makes me think (and obviously feel). My love affair is on again as of yesterday.
The tone is real, and that’s what I appreciate out of a blogger.

And that’s the list folks. Hopefully you’ve discovered something new here. And thanks so much for stopping by to read this article, I do appreciate it.

I love the list you complied! Awesome stuff.
Awesome list! I subscribed to almost all of these blogs just now, including yours. Thanks.
Now it’s time for me to start incorporating minimalism more.
Hey Charley,
Thanks for including me in your list.
I think your blog is moving along really well and you have some big plans for 2010 that i am sure will make some great reading.
Cheers mate
Some great other blogs here!
Thanks for noting both of mine. I hope I am able to help your readers out in any way possible.
P.S. I am not paying you for this reference despite your supposed thoughts when publishing this. HAHA!!!

The Minimalist Path & LifeExcursion
Thanks so much for the comments guys. Yer doing great work and so I am glad to promote. Interesting anomaly, but this post is by far the most popular one I’ve ever written and I really didn’t write anything. Yeah, it took a long time to compile the links and all that but still…

Thanks so much for mentioning Far Beyond The Stars, Charley.
I appreciate your help in spreading the word, as well as your insightful comments on the blog.
It’s great to see there are so many amazing people writing about being minimalist. I have a couple of new blogs to check out because of your diligent research!
Best,
Everett Bogue

@charley. it just goes to show you never know for sure which posts are going to strike big. thanks for the mention.
Thanks for the great list. I knew some of these sites mnmlist.com, but a few others I didn’t know.

The Minimalist Path
Good thing I decluttered before everyone stopped over.
Am already following you on Twitter. Just sent you a note on phantom subscriber counts.
Charley, I really, really appreciate the link and kind words. Despite pissing you off at times, I really am a nice guy! (Just a bit of an ass at times…) I am definitely going to pay attention to the blogs that you list as well as your own. I wish you all the luck in your path in the New Year.
Very glad you stopped by and took the time to comment, Michael. It’s my pleasure to share these great writers.
Yeah, too funny, right? It’s what makes this so much fun, really. Sharing, getting feedback, and then you think you’ve got a handle on it and then it’s one surprise after another.
You’re very welcome for the mention, Joshua. Your family’s story is very inspirational.
Hey Everett,
Any time. I enjoy your articles very much. They seemingly have a way to spark some neat stream of consciousness that I apparently have no qualms spewing all over your comments section.
Keep it coming
The check’s not in the mail? Charley sad….
Thanks Greg, no problemo. I enjoy following your video progress. I need to pick up the “Cheers” thingy. I live about six minutes from the Canadian border and they use it up there alot. We don’t have any cool sayings in Buffalo…but it snows a f*ckin lot.

Hey Andy,
You got it, Bud. If you can minimalize the unessential, you can really kick it on the things that are important, like your web design business. Nice portfolio by the way.
Hey Tammy,
I’m honored that you stopped by and took the time to comment. Yer blog may be about tiny things but it ain’t little.
Ha ha, Kevin, too funny. Thanks for the comment, I mean that. Hey you come highly respected by several bloggers and I found you through the Everyday Minimalist originally. You wouldn’t be “evil” if you didn’t piss off a few folks.
Charley,
I’m humbled that you included thesimplerlife.net in your list. Much appreciated!
-Sam
Wow, thank you for including me in your list! I’ve never been on a blogger list before! This really makes my day.
(though it looks like I’m going to have to go edit my own Bloggers to Watch post that’s scheduled to go up tomorrow as we have a lot of overlap, oops!)
Wow, what a great list to be included in. Thanks!
You’re very welcome, David. Thank you for stopping by.
Thank you so much for adding me. How kind of you to put me on your list along with 3 of my posts!
And yes, you’re right
I do like to maintain a level of anonymity because I also blog on 2 other blogs that reveal my life and finances in-depth each month, as well as spending habits.
I would just rather strangers or clients not know every little detail about me and judge me before getting to really know me as a professional.
Fabulously Broke in the City — http://www.FabulouslyBroke.com
Style on a String — http://www.StyleString.com
What a helpful list! Thank you for including me, particularly since More Minimal is in “pause” mode while I finish its successor, The Minimalist Century.
The new site will debut the beginning of February. It will use More Minimal’s RSS feed, Twitter account, and Facebook page, so if you follow one of those, you won’t miss TMC’s launch.
Here’s wishing everyone a productive and minimalist year.
Charley,
Forgot to mention that I know what you mean about having a post like this be your most popular. My “14 Websites to Make You a More Intelligent Person” is far and away my most popular post to date. I think I’d prefer to have an article that I actually wrote the majority of be my most popular, but I suppose I can’t afford to be choosy.
Thank-you for sharing thi list ( :
Wow, thanks for listing me here
. I really appreciate it.
Happy New Year all.
Charley, it’s an honor to be included in this fabulous list. Thank you so much!
I’m thrilled to discover so many wonderful blogs on minimalism. I truly believe that having less stuff can lead to a happier life, and would love to see minimalist living go “mainstream!”
charley
big THANKS for including stonesoup
I second miss minimalist – it’s so great to find so many brilliant blogs on minimalism. confirms my suspicions that everyone can benefit from having less and enjoying life more
Hi Jules,
Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. I love your articles on minimalist eating.
- Charley
Thanks for the list. Several of these I’ve discovered on my own but I think I just added 10 more blogs to my RSS reader.
Thanks for keeping my reader full!
It looks like you have a great blog here yourself! Ahh – I feel a bit overwhelmed by all these cool blogs I am going to need to check out now…way to make things not so simple!
Hello – saw you on Twitter and followed your link to this lovely collection. Strip away, let’s do it! Wonderful, thank you.
